While my daugher and son in law were in the hospital awaiting the delivery of their stillborn daughter they were given a beautiful hand knitted hat, sweater and blanket as well as a hand painted memory box. When I went to see and hold my granddaughter it was such a comfort to see her in this beautiful outfit. I was told that the items were knittted by staff and volunters. I am so gratefull for this thoughtful gesture. It got me to thinking so many times I think of volunteering my time but life gets busy and sometimes after 40 hours of being a "helping professional" I am not up to more "helping". But I now realize there are so many things I can do that use the skills that help me relax and reduce stress. I'm not much of a knitter but I can crotchet a blanket, I can also to a cross stitch top for a memory box. I can be a comfort to someone else.
Sorry to read about your family's loss. Glad the staff and volunteer items helped you.
ReplyDeleteMy thoughts are with you and your family during this difficult time.
ReplyDeleteIt's those little things that special people take the time to do for us that really do mean so much... I think that cross stitching a top for a memory box is a lovely idea.

ReplyDeleteI think crocheting baby afghan's is a wonderful way to volunteer your time and skills.
*hugs* I am sorry to hear of the loss of your precious wee grandbaby, my thoughts and prayers are with you all. What a lovely thing for the volunteers to do, I will have to find out if we have something similar here.
